A print from a recent video piece, There and Back Again, is going to be part of this year’s annual Urban Suburban event at the Epsten Gallery at Village Shalom. The event, organized by local artist and curator Marcus Cain, is an exhibition and auction to benefit the Kansas City Jewish Museum. The exhibition opens September 5 with a reception from 2-4 PM. The closing party and live auction will be held October 23 at 7 PM.

Pigeon in the Everson Museum collection

I got the official announcement yesterday that Pigeon has been accepted into the collection of the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY. The news came from the museum’s curator Debora Ryan who had organized an exhibition of the piece last year during my Intermissions project in the city.

opening reception at Swarm Gallery

The opening reception for my exhibition at Swarm Gallery in Oakland happened last Saturday evening with a very nice sized crowd attending. My audio and video installation Ectoplasmic Response was shown along with drawings by Bay Area artist Casey Jex Smith and an installation of ghostly architectural elements made of vellum by Brooklyn-based artist Sonya Blesofsky. There was also a short performance by 4AD artist tUnE-YarDs.

For anyone visiting the Bay Area, you should check out the up-and-coming art scene in Oakland. There are some very interesting things happening there, with Swarm Gallery being in the center of it.

Glow benefit at the Nerman Museum

Beyond Bounds: GLOW, this year’s benefit exhibition and auction for the Nerman Museum of Contemporary of Art, was held at the museum last Saturday night. I wasn’t able to attend but heard it was a great exhibition and event. I donated a print based on a video still from my recent Ectoplasmic Response video installation. I haven’t heard yet whether or not it sold in the auction.

Pigeon opened yesterday at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse. It runs through August 22. I’ll be giving a gallery talk there at the musueum on August 20.

Pigeon, a single-channel video of mine, has been picked by curator Debora Ryan to be shown at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse this summer. The solo exhibition, running July 25 to August 30, will be the kick-off to my larger series of exhibitions at Syracuse University and around the city of Syracuse. This project, titled Intermissions, will begin August 14 in the main gallery at Light Work and will continue with other exhibitions and events through October.

Finally.

Op Eyes has been placed in the location for which it was created, the projection system on the Regnier Center adjacent to the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. It was tested last night for the opening reception for the museum’s new acquisitions exhibit.

This isn’t going to be a permanent public installation, but since the piece is in the museum’s permanent collection, hopefully they’ll put it up on the screen regularly.

I finally got some installation images for Op Eyes showing in the Oppenheimer New Media Gallery at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. The projection is approx. 18 ft. x 10 ft. and is being shown from Blu-ray disc.
