The event, organized by local artist and curator Marcus Cain, is an exhibition and auction to benefit the <a href="http://www.kcjmca.org/home/" target="_blank">Kansas City Jewish Museum</a>. The exhibition opens September 5 with a reception from 2-4 PM. The closing party and live auction will be held October 23 at 7 PM.</p>

The news came from the museum&#8217;s curator Debora Ryan who had organized an exhibition of the piece last year during my Intermissions project in the city.]]></description>

My audio and video installation <a href="http://www.barryanderson.com/installations/ectoplasmic-response-2009/"><em>Ectoplasmic Response</em></a> was shown along with drawings by Bay Area artist <a href="http://www.caseyjexsmith.com/index.php" target="_blank">Casey Jex Smith</a> and an installation of ghostly architectural elements made of vellum by Brooklyn-based artist <a href="http://sonyablesofsky.com/home.html" target="_blank">Sonya Blesofsky</a>. There was also a short performance by <a href="http://www.4ad.com" target="_blank">4AD</a> artist <a href="http://tune-yards.com/" target="_blank">tUnE-YarDs</a>.</p>
<p>For anyone visiting the Bay Area, you should check out the up-and-coming art scene in Oakland. There are some very interesting things happening there, with Swarm Gallery being in the center of it.</p>

<p><i>Op Eyes</i> has been placed in the location for which it was created, the projection system on the <a href="http://www.jccc.net/home/depts/003200/site/campaignintro/regnier">Regnier Center</a> adjacent to the <a href="http://www.nermanmuseum.org/">Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art</a>. It was tested last night for the opening reception for the museum&#8217;s new acquisitions exhibit.</p>
<p>This isn&#8217;t going to be a permanent public installation, but since the piece is in the museum&#8217;s permanent collection, hopefully they&#8217;ll put it up on the screen regularly.</div>
