One of my new video pieces, Janus (2), was featured in a spread in the new issue of KC Studio Magazine. The article highlights the upcoming exhibition The Big Reveal at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City. This group exhibition, which features recent acquisitions by the museum, will include my Janus (2) and Pigeon pieces both of which were acquired by the museum this past year. The exhibition opens with a reception on September 23 and will run through the end of the year.

Pigeon in the Kemper Museum collection

I just received news that my video Pigeon has been added to the permanent collection of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City. This particular video has been shown around the country and the world and is also part of the collection of the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY. It’s nice to now have a home for it in KC. Word is that it will be shown in the museum sometime within the next year.

I just finished up a new music video for Kansas City-based band Monta At Odds. The song is “Styrofoil” and it’s from their brand new album Fuoco Infernale, which is being released today through Upstairs Recordings.

group exhibition at Byron Cohen

Four of my older pieces (Treebeasties (1), Soft Velvet Float, Lawn Ornaments, and the Always Becoming Something prints) are currently on view in a group exhibition of gallery artists at Byron C. Cohen Gallery in Kansas City. The exhibition, which features 100 artworks displayed salon style, opened with a reception last night and will continue through the rest of the year. There will be a second reception on December 3 during the next Crossroads First Fridays. This exhibition is the last one to be held in the gallery’s current location.

Thee Devotion performance

Thee Devotion played a great set at the Kansas City Art Institute last night. Once again I provided a comprised of remixed 60s films perfectly matching the feel of their retro funk. A video I shot during the performance last night can be viewed on YouTube.

Thee Devotion at KCAI

I will one again be collaborating with Thee Devotion for a show here in KC. The performance will be this Saturday evening at the Kansas City Art Institute’s Epperson Auditorium beginning at 7:00 PM. The event is is the closing party for KCAI’s alumni weekend.

Pigeon in the Everson Museum collection

I got the official announcement yesterday that Pigeon has been accepted into the collection of the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY. The news came from the museum’s curator Debora Ryan who had organized an exhibition of the piece last year during my Intermissions project in the city.

SpaceRockSpasm opens

My newest exhibition, SpaceRockSpasm, opened at Review Studios in Kansas City last night. There was a nice crowd and an amazing reception to all of the new work. The exhibition is comprised of eight pieces, five being multi-channel video works and two being multi-channel audio works. The pieces themselves showcase a variety of recent influences on my work such as Krautrock, comics, early experimental film, and recent geo-politics. One, a three-channel vertical LCD piece titled Totem (1) (seen in the image here), seemed to be the most praised and looks to have already sold of a couple of copies of the small edition. Images of all of the works will be posted on this site very soon. The images from the reception are courtesy of friend and colleague Elijah Gowin.
